Phnom Penh Police Commissioner threatens station commander with the sack amid an increase in robberies in the capital

Phnom Penh Police has come under increasing criticism after spates of robberies in recent months have killed many business owners.

In recent weeks, a number of money exchange and jewelry shops in Phnom Penh have been brutally robbed and owners violently killed but perpetrator have never been identified and arrested.

The police has now deployed its forces around the city in great numbers with the City's commissioner, Gen. Touch Naroth (pictured), warning his commanders that they face the sack if they have been found to be not taking sufficient measures to curb these new spates of robberies.

The warnings and the strong measures came after owners of a jewelry shop in Prek Leap and a money exchange shop in Phsar Kandal were violently robbed and brutally killed.

With police putting strong security measures in place, the robbers seem to have changed their strategies by turning to robber motorbikes on the streets, robbing wallets from people walking down the streets and committing home robberies instead.

Without having the Rule of Law. How do you deal with these issues. Acid attacks, Robberies, telling the court what to do, and many more shits. Eventually, there is no one been arrested and only the innocent people who have become the victims of any incident. Ending the CPP administation is the only way to solve all issues.

90% true 548.cpp need to let someone else to prove their capabilities to lead srok khmer.if proven wrong then cpp can come back. i think cpp been too long in office to be effectively making fair decisions. we need new and fresh leaders.cpp should know that its time to let new party take over. too many high crimes are penetrateing our society. i think, don't control the media(like, videos banned) and freedom of movement but control the high crimes.

How can they catch the robbers because the robbers are the police themselves.

When they rob they have to kill the victims because the victims can identify them easily. To stop or to reduce the levels of robberies and crimes in Cambodia, police have to be paid better, retrained, head of police get sacked if they can't stop the crimes.

Now the police doesn't worry about accountability because the political leaders or law-enforcement officers don't care and don't give them ultimatum to stop the crimes.

Making accusation without proof is like fucking without condom.
