PHNOM PENH, 7 November 2012 (Cambodia Herald) - Information Minister Khieu Kanhairth
(pictured) chided National Rescue Party president Sam Rainsy Wednesday for
appealing to US President Barack Obama for help to return to Cambodia.
He told reporters that the government had never barred the return of Sam Rainsy, who has been sentenced to 12 years for forgery and uprooting markers along the border with Vietnam.
"He may think that Obama is Hun Sen's boss. He can do anything he likes. The government has never banned him from coming back to the country," he said.
Sam Rainsy sent a letter last month to King Norodom Sihamoni and leaders of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party asking to return to Cambodia to pay tribute to the late King Father.
The exiled opposition leader is believed to be living in France.

Hun Sen may not answer to President Obama, but he will answer to American aids and pressures.
Obama can make Hun Sen and his regime miserable financially and poor in international supports.
