Acting foreign affairs minister: Cambodia understands Thailand

BANGKOK, 2 July 2014 (NNT) - Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow has expressed satisfaction with his official visit to Cambodia to explain the situation in Thailand and discuss bilateral cooperation.

Mr Sihasak, the permanent-secretary for foreign affairs, said he had recently visited five ASEAN member countries in line with the policy of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) who wanted to urgently make the international community understand the situation in Thailand. From 1-2 July, Mr Sihasak traveled to Cambodia to meet with Prime Minister Hun Sen and Cambodian Foreign Affairs Minister Horn Nam Hong.

The Thai official stated that the Cambodian premier and foreign affairs minister understood the situation in Thailand and showed their support for the NCPO’s guidelines to return democracy to Thailand. They also promised that Cambodia would not interfere with Thailand’s internal affairs and it would not support the groups of people who opposed the council.

Mr Sihasak added that he had explained Thailand’s effort to regulate alien workers to the Cambodian officials and assured them that Thailand was actively tackling the problem of human trafficking. - See more at: http://thainews.prd.go.th/centerweb/newsen/NewsDetail?NT01_NewsID=WNPOL5707020010005#sthash.C9Jj0G53.dpuf
