Cambodian, Thai anti-corruption agencies sign cooperation deal

PHNOM PENH, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian and Thai anti- corruption bodies on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in capacity building and intelligence information sharing, both sides said.
The deal was inked between Kheang Seng, vice-president of the Anti-Corruption Unit of Cambodia, and Panthep Klanarongran, president of the National Anti-Corruption Commission of Thailand.
"The MoU is a new step towards strengthening cooperation in preventing and fighting against corruption through exchanging experiences and information, so our two countries will work more effectively to stamp out corruption," Kheang Seng said during the signing ceremony.
Panthep Klanarongran said the deal would further enhance friendly relations and cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
"The MoU will provide a clear direction of cooperation in capacity building for anti-corruption officials, exchange of intelligence information, and investigation techniques," he said.

According to Kheang Seng, it was the second bilateral cooperation deal the Anti-Corruption Unit of Cambodia signed with its friendly countries. Last year, it inked such deal with neighboring Laos.
