Vietnam – Cambodia maintain solidarity and traditional relations

Vietnam – Cambodia
The welcoming ceremony for Samdech Heng Samrin, Cambodian National Assembly Chairman who pays an official visit to Vietnam, is held at the Government Guest House.
Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Samdech Heng Samrin paid an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung. It was the second visit of Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Samdech Heng Samrin to Vietnam in 2014.
In early 2014, the Cambodian leader arrived in Hanoi to attend the 35th anniversary of Vietnam's victory in the southwest border defense war and the joint victory of Vietnam and Cambodia over the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime (January 7, 1979 - January 7, 2014).
The visits showed the special sentiment of the Cambodian National Assembly and people in general, and of Chairman Samdech Heng Samrin in particular for the Vietnamese people.
During his stay in Vietnam (from August 18-20, 2014), Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Samdech Heng Samrin held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Sinh Hung; paid courtesy visits to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang and met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
At the meetings with the Vietnamese leaders, Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Samdech Heng Samrin expressed his deep gratitude to Vietnamese Party, State and people for saving Cambodia from the genocidal regime, and helping in its national reconstruction. He also noted the great sacrifices of volunteer Vietnamese soldiers for the freedom and independence of Cambodia.
The Vietnamese leaders affirmed that Vietnam always respects and gives top priority to fostering and developing sound neighborly relations, traditional friendship and multi-dimensional cooperation with Cambodia. That is the valuable estate of the two nations which needs to be maintained, developed and handed down to the next generations.
Confirming that Vietnam is the leading economic partner of Cambodia, Chairman Heng Samrin said he hopes that Vietnam will continue assisting Cambodia’s development by boosting partnership in economy, trade and investment and encouraging Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Cambodia with the aim of creating the strategic connection of the two countries and a long term connection between the people of Vietnam and Cambodia.
The leaders also highly evaluated the cooperation outcomes of the two National Assemblies and hoped that the two NAs continue to foster cooperation, sharing experiences in law-making, supervising and deciding important issues of the nations; strengthen inspecting, speeding and steering ministries, sectors, localities and enterprises effectively implement signed agreements between the two nations and the two NAs, contributing to deepening the traditional solidarity and the comprehensive partnership of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Regarding the recent acts of some Khmer Kampuchea Krom extremists such as staging illegal demonstrations against Vietnam and even burning the country’s national flag, which hurt the Vietnamese people, Vietnam’s leaders asked the Cambodian NA and Government to take suitable measures to prevent similar cases.
Concurring with the proposals, Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Heng Samrin said he feels regret about the demonstration against Vietnam, especially the burning of the national flag of the country, saying that these actions were conducted by a group of extremists who were incited by some elements with no knowledge of the history of the two countries.
He said the Cambodian NA and he himself were angry about these acts, adding that his country has applied strong measures to deal with the incident and punish violators, and will do its best, using the law, to prevent such actions from being repeated.

I think most Cambodians love to work with Vietnam. There are only a small fraction of Cambodians who oppose.

Look at the tall Vietnamese with light skin. You folks always favor tall and light-skinned people right?
