Sam Rainsy to meet CPP top leaders to seek release of senior official

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Opposition leader Sam Rainsy will meet with leaders of ruling party soon to seek release of a senior official. 

The arrest of Meach Sovannara is politically motivated and it needs to be politically intervened, said a party spokesman Yim Sovann. 

"We can not stay calm, especially the party leader [Sam Rainsy] will talk with top leaders of ruling party to seek release of Meach Sovannara," Sovann said, adding that he can not confirm whether Sam Rainsy will meet directly with Hun Sen or not. 

"Please wait and see. I can say that Meach Sovannara will be released."
