Ethnic tension is not about 'racism' but natural resources

Waterways of Cambodia are clogged up with ethnic Vietnamese floating settlements like this one, posing serious environmental as well as political concerns. The presence of these anarchic settlements existing on such an unprecedented scale in context prior to the Vietnamese armed invasion in 1979 that opened the floodgate to the influx of mass Vietnamese migrants into the country points to the freedom in migratory movement up the Mekong and Basac rivers, driven in part by intense economic pressure in Vietnam serving to highlight the strong political hegemony and influence Vietnam wields over the regime it had installed in power following that invasion. Nevertheless, Vietnamese authorities have since insisted that these migrants are 'Cambodians' ["practically Cambodians"!], not Vietnamese, and thus denying them the right to return legally to Vietnam should they ever opt to do so. RE: CNRP and Racism – an Enigma

by 'Anonymous Anonymous'

This is the most pro-Vietcong government and AH HUN XEN Vietcong slave dictator propaganda machine at work. The issue of the racism against the so called Youn (Vietnamese) will not go away!

T. Mohan is the most irresponsible journalist that I have ever seen in my life! This article branded the whole Cambodian people as bigots and racists against the Youn people (Vietnamese)!

I want to make a distinction between "hate" and "discrimination"! There is nothing in Cambodian constitution that prevents Cambodian people from hating other people! For example, If a Youn man (Vietnamese) works for a Cambodian boss and if the Cambodian boss doesn't like him the way he does things and if the Youn man gets fired, then it is too bad! The Cambodian boss can do anything because it is his business! The Youn man can't claim he is being discriminated against! Cambodian people are being accused of all kinds of bullshit! Enough is enough!
As for discrimination...there are Lawful Vs Unlawful Discrimination!
http://civilrights.findlaw.com

What does the Cambodian law say about 'discrimination'? For AH HUN XEN Vietcong slave dictator to go around accusing the opposition and the Cambodian people of racism and discriminating against Youn people (Vietnamese) proves that he is so irresponsible too...The dictator is part of the f..cken problem of racism against Youn people (Vietnamese) because he has not done enough to protect these Youn people!

As for traffic accidents...all the Cambodian people are victims of traffic accidents due to corrupt licensing system, bad roads, and lack of traffic law enforcement and Cambodia has the highest traffic deaths in the world! Now to use Tran Van Chien's isolated traffic accident incident [as an example of racially targeted violence] is a joke! It doesn't matter whether you are Khmer people (Cambodian) or Youn people (Vietnamese) - if you are driving or riding in away using your car or scooter as a weapon to cause serious injury or to kill people and you will die if the horde of people catch up with you! Majority of the Cambodian drivers and riders don't have insurance policy to cover the damage. If you happen to kill somebody in traffic accident and you had better run for your life away from the scene of accident because when the horde of people catch up with you they will beat you to death! So run for your life and talk later and agree to pay large sum of money to the victim whether the victim is right or wrong! This is an eye for an eye!

As for the Khmer Krom people (Cambodians in Southern Vietnam) have been discriminated by both the Vietnam government and the Vietnam puppet government in Cambodia. The Khmer Krom became a "stateless people" ever since the Vietcong government installed their puppet government in Cambodia in 1979! In 1992, Prince Sihanouk even asked the Khmer Krom people to participate in the Cambodian election. But the Vietcong government maintained that ' there are no Khmer Krom people in Vietnam only Vietnamese'!

As far as I am concerned all the fighting between the Khmer people (Cambodian) and the Youn people (Vietnamese) is not about racism but about natural resources. Vietnam is a country that has a population of 100 million people and their natural resources are stretched to the limit, and that explains why Vietnam is determined to rob the Khmer Krom people's land from Cambodia and, later became Southern Vietnam which is now called Ho Chi Minh City! For Cambodia, a country that has about 15 million people the resources are plentiful, and most Youn people (Vietnamese) find easy living in Cambodia and they will continue to come in search of better opportunities in Cambodia due to corruption and weak immigration law and compete against the Cambodian people far beyond the boundary of law and sovereignty which will eventually displace Cambodian people like [in the case of] the Khmer Krom people in Southern Vietnam. The booming of the Vietnamese population is a major concerned for the Vietnamese leaders, and the Vietnamese leaders can always look to Cambodia to solve their population problem.
