A visit by top South Korean officials to Cambodia this week was not only meant to improve ties between both countries, but also an opportunity to discuss the Kingdom’s stance with North Korea.

The South Korean delegation, which included Vice Defense Minister Hwang In-moo, met with Cambodia’s Foreign Minister Prak Sokhon yesterday and Prime Minister Hun Sen the day before, said Government spokesman Phay Siphan.

North Korea was the subject of discussion during the meeting. Sokhon "assured South Korea that Cambodia condemns North Korea’s nuclear testing", Siphan said. North Korea is "just a friend, but when a friend does a wrongdoing, Cambodia doesn’t support it and condemns it", he added.

Officials in South Korea and at its embassy in Phnom Penh didn’t respond to requests for comment.
